- Trying to figure out whether we are going to have joint accounts or separate accounts has been a real challenge. Also, he accumulated a lot more student loan debt than I did, so do we keep our money separate and each pay down our own loans, or do we merge our accounts and pay down the loans together? We're each earning about the same amount right now, but what happens when we have kids? I like the idea that we share everything, but although I like the idea, it might be easier if we keep our finances separate.
