Cynthia Blair has been a freelance writer for more than 20 years. In addition to writing for newspapers and magazines, she has taught writing at Hofstra University on Long Island and the Cape Cod Writers Workshop, written for public relations firms, and ghost-written articles for trade periodicals for businesspeople.
She has published nearly 50 novels, both mainstream fiction and young adult novels. Cynthia currently writes a mystery series called “The Reigning Cats and Dogs Mystery Series,” published by Bantam Books, under the pen name Cynthia Baxter.
Cynthia is the president of the New York/Tri-State Chapter of the national writers’ organization Sisters in Crime.
“Being a writer means that every day is different. I love being able to mix writing non-fiction with writing fiction, balancing the amount of time I spend in the ‘real world’ with the time I spend living in my own made-up world with the characters I’ve created.”
Cynthia has a B.A. in Economics from Bryn Mawr College and an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While she initially pursued a career in marketing, it only took her a few years to realize that being a writer was much more fun.
