The DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum contains more than 10,000 rare 17th-, 18th- and early 19th-century British and American antiques from Colonial Williamsburgs collections.
Treasures include silver, ceramics, glass, paintings, prints, maps, textiles, the worlds largest collection of Virginia furniture, and the largest collection of English pottery outside England. Its more esoteric corners may provide refuge from youngsters.
In October 2006 the Museums of Colonial Williamsburg will include both the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, reconstructed and adjacent to the Wallace Museum.
