Freedom of the press is key to a free nation. At the Printing Office in Colonial Williamsburg, visitors can witness the beginnings America's freedom of the press.
The Printing Office uses reproduction printing presses to make copies of 18th-century political tracts, the Virginia Gazette newspaper, posters, and other printed materials, which are for sale at Colonial Williamsburgs Prentis store.
One of the cleverest things Colonial Williamsburg offers visitors is a free daily newspaper that not only covers events taking place in the Historic Area that day, but also what transpired on the same day more than two centuries ago.
