For nearly 500 years, from 1177 to 1654, Faithlegg was in the hands of the Aylward family. The property originally encompassed 7,000 acres. Today it measures just under 300 acres. The present house was built by Cornelius Bolton in 1783, and it went through numerous hands until it was converted to a luxury hotel in 1998.
