DONT procrastinate. Start planning early so you can get a group rate (if available and necessary) plus answers to all your queries.
DO be sure beforehand that there will be no hidden extra service or resort charges tacked onto your bill.
DO ascertain that the resort can switch to an indoor venue in case rain threatens your outdoor proceedings.
DONT leave photos to chance. Either designate a competent amateur photographer in your party or consider the pro the resort offers.
DONT sign up for the resort photographer or musicians without asking the wedding planner to email you photos or music clips.
DONT settle for a boilerplate ceremony. Personalize your vow renewal by writing as much of the script as you care to. This is your day.
DO take any opportunity offered to meet with the officiant beforehand.
DO let guests know that you dont expect gifts (if in fact you dont). If they insist, you can suggest a donation to a charity you support.
DO bring your own party favors; the resort shop might not have what you like. Keep them lightweight and unbreakable, such as pashminas and sport watches. A spa service for all your guests is an easy and welcome (if not exactly budget) gift.
DONT plan on heels or fancy shoes for a beach ceremony. Go with a pretty, flat-bottomed shoe for her, mandals for him.
DONT be a mother hen. Your job is to relax and get married (again). Appoint one of your guests to take care of host-type tasks like rounding up the other invitees.
DO reserve some private couple time for the two of you on the day of your ceremony. On this day, youre a bride and groom again. Enjoy it.
