Like to hike? The hotel has three different, well-marked paths to traverse on the 160-acre property. A notebook in the lobby shows their locations as well as steep spots. Books that map out other local hiking trails, plus an array of board games, are also available. And there's daily delivery of The New York Times (there are house copies, so dedicated readers may have to share).
The Inn can make arrangements for couples to play golf off site or go horseback riding. Biking and boating and fishing are other options away from the property. Picnic lunches can be provided — a good thing, as restaurants are few and far between in these parts.
Winter is prime time, and Windham Hill is close to Mount Snow, Stratton Mountain, Bromley, and Magic Mountain for downhill skiing and other snow sports. Couples can also get an exhilarating workout strapping on a pair of the available snowshoes and tramping across the 160-acre property.
When the weather's bad or you must catch the news or the score, repair to the conference center on the lower level of the White Barn. Long couches, a large flatscreen TV, and satellite dish reception can provide a fix.
