Presidents Day and Valentine's Day

Two Holidays Celebrated by Different Constituencies

By , About.com Guide

Presidents Day and Valentine's DayLibrary of Congress, Pixabella.
In the United States, Presidents Day -- a holiday honoring the country's first president, George Washington (born February 22) and Abraham Lincoln (born February 12) -- is celebrated around the same time as Valentine's Day, February 14.

Terrific, say you? Two occasions to celebrate at once! Not so fast! As a romantic (i.e. someone who appreciates privacy, luxury, and adult pleasures), you may want to spend Valentine's Day at a romantic getaway, enjoying a package that includes Champagne and a couples massage, truffles and rose petals.

But take heed: Your Valentine's Day celebration falls in the midst of schools' winter break.

Unless you choose wisely (an adults-only property or a resort that segregates couples and family travelers), you may find yourself traveling to celebrate Valentines Day and end up surrounded by moms, dads, and raucous kids on their Presidents Day holiday.

Just don't say I didn't warn you!
