Unless you're hikers or plan to set out on your own sailboat, there's not much to do or see in the immediate vicinity of Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay — which is exactly why some couples choose to stay here. It's private. Remote. And unexpected guests rarely show up.

Couples basically have two "off-campus" choices:

• 1. Take the half-hour drive into Bodrum, which offers all the attractions a summer resort town can provide — bars and restaurants, shopping, fishing charters — plus one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Mausoleum of Maussolos.
• 2. Board a helicopter for a day trip to Ephesus, Istanbul, or any other Turkish points of interest.
