Yosemite Valley Picture

The very first picture you take of the park may turn out to be a stunner.

Yosemite is one of the first wilderness parks in the US. Established in the middle of the 19th century, this mountainous terrain covers 1,200 square miles in the Sierra Nevada of California.

Picture this: Some 95 percent of Yosemite today is designated wilderness with pristine valleys, meadows, sequoias, and glaciers. It’s no wonder 3.5 million tourists from around the world visit Yosemite National Park and shoot their own pictures of the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Yosemite Valley is the first iconic picture that you'll want to make as you enter the center of the park on Mariposa Trail. Many rise early to shoot The Valley from Inspiration Point (appropriately named).

Best bet for the best Yosemite Valley picture: Sleep in, and catch The Valley at sunset when the light is sublime. Nature and its many players, The El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls, Cathedral Spire, and the stunner in the distance, Half Dome, will warrant many more pictures.
