The historic Hermitage Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Nashville. A flight of steps leads up into the dramatic two-story lobby – with marble columns, warm apricot colored walls, and glowing with table lamps, wall sconces, alabaster hanging chandeliers and a stained glass ceiling. In fact, gorgeous ceilings are a big feature in this hotel: stained-glass in the lobby, ornately painted in the Grand Ballroom, and faux-painted in the Veranda.

The lobby manages to be both magnificent and comfortable, telling the story of what the experience can be like staying at this AAA Five Diamond/Mobil Five Star Hotel. There are comfortable seating areas throughout, and each evening a table is laden with fresh baked cookies and coffee, tea and cider by the elevators.

The Hermitage was built in 1910 in the ornamental Beaux-Arts style. In 2003 the hotel was renovated, maintaining its original grand style but expanding the rooms and suites. The Hermitage is a member of the National Register of Historic Places and Historic Hotels of America.
