Running on a Friday-Saturday-Sunday schedule at first, the Atlantic City train, dubbed ACES, departs from New York's Penn Station traveling southbound. It stops at Newark's Penn Station fifteen minutes later, then travels express to Atlantic City.
ACES' sleek new double-decker train cars have seats for coach passengers on the lower level. First-class passengers above get roomier leather seats and have waiter service. The front of each of the four cars features a food-and-beverage bar where quality snacks (award-winning cookies and chips plus sandwiches, Wolfgang-Puck-branded coffee, beer and booze) provide sustenance for the train ride, which takes under three hours.
Hosts who'd like to bring friends to Atlantic City for a bachelor or bachelorette weekend can start the festivities early by reserving the train's private lounge.
Business-minded passengers can use a power plug to run their laptop if they take one of the seats at the end of each car. Plugs are not provided at all seats, nor is wi-fi available onboard.
Upon arrival at the new Atlantic City Terminal, ACES passengers can hop a complimentary shuttle from the station to Harrahs, Caesars, and Borgata casino-hotels. Return shuttle service is available to passengers holding reserved tickets.
Visitors to Atlantic City will find new and upgraded hotels, spas, swimming pools, an impressive selection of eateries (The Pier Restaurants are especially delectable), and upscale shops. But what makes Atlantic City unique, and uniquely worth visiting by train, car, or plane, is its combination of gambling casinos and direct access to the beach and Atlantic Ocean beyond.
