- a light sweater and/or pashmina for the ship's forceful air-conditioning
- dressy sandals for dinner
- Hawaiian shirts (popular onboard, and acceptable dinner wear)
- "mandals," Topsiders, or loafers at dinner
- plenty of high-SPF sunscreen
- dark sunglasses and sun hat
- rubber-soled footwear for tender boats to shore and for beach walking
- tote bag, cotton shorts, walking shoes, bug spray for shore excursions
- sneakers for gym and hikes
- camera with large memory card
- tropical-print duds for "Polynesian night"
- dress pants or dinner jacket for men
- high heels
- voltage converter, hairdryer, bathrobes, umbrella, snorkel mask and fins, books (all provided by the ship)
- seasickness pills (dispensed onboard for the few who need them)
