Muster at the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan to witness the changing of the guard at noon.

It's likely that you'll hear the guards arrive before you see them: The blue-helmeted soldiers are preceded by a marching band leading to the Outer Courtyard.

Open to the public, the Royal Palace is the official residence of His Majesty The King and was built in the 18th century.

The royal family — consisting of King Gustav, Queen Silvia, the Crown Princess Victoria and her two younger siblings — don’t live there, though. Drottningholm (sometimes referred to as the Nordic Versailles) is their private residence and a World Heritage site.

Guided tours of both the Royal Palace and Drottningholm are available. Learn more by visiting the Swedish Royal Court.
