Discovery at Marigot Bay is nestled into a hillside overlooking a scenic bay. The on-site marina makes luxurious yachts part of the scenery. The eco-friendly resort was built with local materials, and the manicured grounds include a tree house, a thatched hut, and a Zen garden. The resort has one restaurant, a coffee shop, a bakery, two bars, two pools, a spa and fitness center, and sports facilities. Yoga, meditation, and exercise classes are offered.
Discovery at Marigot Bay has 67 rooms and 57 suites, 30 with private plunge pools, and most feature balconies overlooking Marigot Bay. They are decorated in earth tones with a contemporary look.
Bathrooms are large and luxurious, and suites have full kitchens plus washers and dryers. All rooms have balconies, 27 flat screen TVs with cable, DVD players, music systems, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, telephones, Internet access, ironing boards, refrigerators, coffee makers, and hairdryers.
Boudreau Restaurant, named for a sea captain, is a casual, open-air eatery that serves all three meals. The Coffee Dock serves breakfast and snacks all day, and the Bakery furnishes pastries and ice cream. Guests can also opt for a romantic dinner in a thatched hut. Room rates include breakfast.
The Pink Snail Bar, with a pink glass bar and unusual lighting, is so named because the movie Dr. Dolittle was filmed in Marigot Bay. The Hurricane Hole Bar overlooks the marina.
Discovery at Marigot Bays basic wedding package, the Magical Marigot Marriage, includes a decorated wedding site, bouquet, boutonniere, cake, champagne, room upgrade, fees, and a champagne breakfast. Packages with additional features include a Spiritual Connection Zen Garden Wedding, Love in the Treetops with a tree house ceremony, and I Do on the Dock at the marina.
The Romantic Package for honeymooners includes accommodations, breakfast, a candlelit dinner, massages, and an excursion.
Discovery at Marigot Bay has two swimming pools: the Lagoon Pool with a swim-up bar and the infinity edge pool near the Hurricane Hole Bar.
The Lapli Spa, meaning rain and blessings, uses a Zen-Caribbean concept and has a Zen Garden. Treatment rooms have private decks and open-air showers. Guests can also have massages in a thatched hut. Treatments include seasonal fruit facials and a cocoa massage, chocolate wrap, or cocoa body polish using freshly-picked cocoa.
Discovery at Marigot Bay is five miles from Castries, a half-hour away from the George FL Charles Airport, and an hour from Hewanorra International Airport. The resort is also close to the St. Lucia Distillers, which produces Bounty Rum and offers a 90-minute Rhythm of Rum Tour.
Discovery at Marigot Bay has only one restaurant on site, some couples may prefer a more diverse dining experience. The nearest town, Castries, is St. Lucias capital and the largest on the island. Reaching it and its restaurants requires a cab ride.
Discovery at Marigot Bay has a polished, somewhat sophisticated feeling, an ambience the on-site marina helps create. While there is plenty to do without leaving the property, those looking for a party atmosphere or an endless list of activities may be happier elsewhere.
