Almond Smugglers Cove, one of five Almond Resorts in the Caribbean, is a recently renovated all-inclusive resort housed in a 35-year-old facility. The 60-acre property is attractive and well-maintained with four restaurants, four bars, five swimming pools, a good-sized beach, a racquet club with a squash court and seven tennis courts, a spa, a fitness center, nightly entertainment, extensive land and water sport facilities, and a craft village.
Almond Smugglers Cove has 357 rooms, including 100 suites, in five categories: standard, deluxe garden view, deluxe beachfront, one-bedroom garden view suites, and one-bedroom beachfront suites. The rooms, housed in pastel one-story buildings, are decorated in Caribbean colors with white louvered doors and brightly-colored bathrooms. All have terraces, air-conditioning, in-room safes, satellite color TV, hairdryers, tea and coffee-makers, and irons and ironing boards.
Almond Smugglers Cove has four restaurants and four bars. The Cove, featuring Continental cuisine, serves buffet breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. The Waterside Grill specializes in seafood, La Trattoria is an Italian eatery, and Café Enid’s has Caribbean cuisine. There is also a Beach Grill and room service for lunch and dinner.
Bars include the Piton Lounge, cozy Tommy’s Rum Shop Piano Bar, the Racquet Club Bar, and a swim-up bar.
Almond Smugglers Cove’s Wedding In Paradise package includes a wedding coordinator, clergyman or magistrate, best man and maid of honor if required, tropical bouquet, boutonniere, champagne, wedding cake, framed wedding photo, required fees, taxes and gratuities, and a ceremony in a garden, gazebo, historical landmark or beach.
The Enchanted Honeymoon package includes champagne, two commemorative glasses, a fruit basket, a spa treatment, a room upgrade, and a Certificate of Togetherness.
The relaxation center specializes in treatments that use almond oil, aromatic herbs, and native flowers. They include a side-by-side massage called the couples journey, facials, body wraps, manicures, pedicures, and hydrotherapy treatments. The Relaxation Lounge serves tea, tropical fruit, and juice. Spa services are also available in-room. The resort has five freshwater swimming pools, including one inside the racquet club area.
Almond Smugglers Cove is eight miles from Castries, St. Lucia’s capital, and 30 miles from Hewanorra International Airport. Guests have free access to the nearby Cap Estate Golf Course.
Some of the guest rooms at Almond Smugglers Cove are on the small side, without any of the little luxuries that other resorts on the island provide.
Almond Smugglers Cove doesn’t feel overly large or impersonal, yet it offers all the convenience that any all-inclusive provides. The atmosphere is relatively quiet and serene, so anyone looking for the party atmosphere of a Sandals may be disappointed. The resort is attractive, the staff is friendly, and there are enough facilities and activities for a pleasant stay without leaving the property.
