Lodgings at Sunrise Springs cover a wide range of styles, sizes, and rates. Couples are urged to examine the website and/or speak with a staffer about rooms before booking their honeymoon or romantic getaway here.
The resort’s top digs are 20 casitas, or airy cottages. They flaunt vaulted ceilings, spacious bathrooms, robes, desk alcove, safe, gas fireplace and kitchenette with fridge and microwave. An enclosed patio and rock garden has a locking gate, so you can open your screen door to the fragrant New Mexico night. Casitas are done in tidy blond wood with a clean Scandinavian look. King or queen beds are firm and comfy, with natural-fiber linens. Some casitas have a separate meditation studio.
The 32 garden view rooms possess more homegrown style. They have either king or double beds and unique decorative details like Saltillo tiling and hand-thrown pottery lamps. Bathrooms provide his-and-hers sinks.
Six cozy pond view rooms overlook tranquil spring-fed waters. They are more modest, with double beds and a shower, no tub.
Casitas and some garden view rooms are set a 10-minute walk from the reception area, spa, restaurant and fitness room. Rides may be requested, but most couples make the walk hand-in-hand.
Most rooms offer locally made toiletries, wi-fi, voicemail, a good-size TV with cable stations, voicemail, iron and board, hairdryer. Little gifts such as organic snacks abound.
There is no business center, but guests sans laptops may use an extra PC in the reception area. The resort’s office will send and receive faxes for a nominal fee and print out emails or Web pages free.
Sunrise Springs charges a resort fee of $4 per day per room. Self-parking is free.
