With its tranquil air, Pueblo architecture, and off-the-beaten-path location, Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda never feels corporate or touristy. It is owned by the Picuris, a local Native American tribe, and its atmosphere is warm and low-key.

Take a short walk or free shuttle ride to Santa Fe’s Plaza. Self-parking is on-premise. There is a laundry, outdoor pool, and hot tub but no fitness room; free passes are given to a good local gym. Use of the business center costs extra.

The Hotel Santa Fe’s 128 rooms are handsome but not flashy, with Southwest-patterned bedspreads and carved-wood furniture. Rooms comprise a sleeping area and living area. Most have a balcony. Beds are mainly king. There’s at least one TV and a minibar but no safe or CD player. The Hacienda, awarded the rare AAA Four Diamonds, houses ultra-luxurious, extremely private suites with butler service, king beds, fireplaces, Pueblo Indian antiques, walk-in showers and other deluxe appointments.

Dining at the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda:

Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda’s restaurant, Amaya, prepares classic dishes with Native American flavors and flair. Game is a specialty, and Southwestern ingredients such as chile, blue corn, and squash blossoms are highlighted.

Amaya serves lunch and dinner in an adobe-walled dining room and outdoor patio. Room service is available. Hotel Santa Fe has an in-house bar and serves a free continental breakfast in its lobby. A concierge assists guests with restaurant reservations.

Weddings and Honeymoons at the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda:

For a truly different wedding, couples may exchange vows in a tepee that holds up to 20 guests. Amaya restaurant and a pretty patio host receptions. Wedding-night accommodations are free for couples who marry here. Group rates for guests are available.

There are no honeymoon packages per se, but three-night deals are offered at both the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda. The Romance Package, minimum two nights, includes a welcome basket, Champagne, his-and-hers massages, and breakfasts in bed.

Nearby the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda:

Hotel Santa Fe is not in the dead-center of Santa Fe. It’s a ten or 15-minute walk or free shuttle ride to the central Plaza. The Hotel is very near many of Santa Fe’s smaller stores and restaurants and its parks and farmers’ market.

Visitors with cars will find the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda easily accessible to all that Santa Fe offers, from its boutiques and galleries to its restaurants, clubs, theaters, and museums.

Is the Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda Right for You?:

Hotel Santa Fe and Hacienda is located away from Santa Fe’s central Plaza, with somewhat bigger rooms and lower rates than closer properties. The main hotel is comfortable, not super-luxurious or stuffy, with a convivial hot tub and fireplace.

The Hacienda is posh and private. If your Santa Fe dream honeymoon has you in the heart of this historic capital, this hotel is not for you. But if you seek a quiet Southwestern getaway that doesn’t feel touristy, consider it.
