Long a hub of the city’s cultural life, Grand Hotel Europe occupies a privileged corner of Nevsky Prospekt, the city's major boulevard, and it stands across from the Philharmonic Society.

Conveniently located near many major tourist sites, Grand Hotel Europe is walking distance to Palace Square and the Hermitage Museum. It's also close to the Russian Museum and the Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The onion-domed Church of Spilled Blood is right round the corner, and an adjacent flea market sells Russian souvenirs.

Shoppers can also drop rubles at Nevsky Prospekt's Zegna, Sephora, Burberry, Bulgari, and Mont Blanc shops. Those who are tempted to visit the massive central department store Gostinyi Dvor nearby will find aisles of ugly, badly designed merchandise, remnants of Communist chic.

Couples who want to venture further into the city in quiet comfort can avail themselves of Grand Hotel Europe's fleet of BMWs, available for a fee. In addition, the hotel maintains its own boat to carry guests on canal tours of the "Venice of the North."
