The Battle of Gettysburg

The Battle of Gettysburg, which took place from July 1 through July 3, 1863, was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. More than 51,000 Union and Confederate soldiers were injured or killed at Gettysburg. Much of the ground upon which they fought is now within Pennsyvania's Gettysburg National Military Park.

One of the best ways to experience the park is with a Licensed Battlefield Guide. For about $20 an hour (two-hour minimum), the guide will drive your car, recount the story of the Battle of Gettysburg day-by-day, show where the armies of the North and South clashed, point out major monuments, and answer questions.
