Beds are either pillow-top, featherbed, or Tempur-Pedic; all are high quality, comfortable, adorned with both feather and scatter pillows, and feature a decorative flame (hot times!) at the headboard and a chenille panel at the foot. Other niceties include waffle robes and slippers, earplugs, a sleep mask, and an iPod dock. Twice-a-day housekeeping keeps things neat.
Thirsty? Crack open the minibar - or brew yourself some Peet's tea or coffee; a full-size kettle and French coffee press are provided, along with creamer and sweeteners.
Laptop-luggers will be happy to find a sturdy desk and free in-room wi-fi (there are also a couple of machines in the library that can be used). Flatscreen TVs with HBO made it tempting to stay in for the evening and order from room service.
The bathroom in our suite featured a separate vanity area with lighted magnifying makeup mirror and sundries by L'Occitane. Bathtub/shower units were thoughfully furnished with grab bars.
