In 2006, the Ocean Crystal Chapel debuted at Hilton Hawaiian Village, offering destination wedding parties a dedicated space for a ceremony.
It's the first free-standing, resort wedding chapel in Waikiki and is surrounded by lush landscaping, romantic waterfalls, and a lagoon.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village Ocean Crystal Wedding Chapel can seat up to 70 guests and has floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the second level. The first level has an observatory-like glass entrance that leads into the wedding boutique, where future brides and grooms may meet privately with a wedding coordinator and learn about wedding packages and services.
The wedding gazebo in front of the chapel can serve as an alternative ceremony option or a romantic setting for photos.
In addition, the Waikiki resort has a multitude of other scenic locations for a ceremony and reception, both indoors and outdoors.
Celebrations for Same-Sex Couples
While same-sex marriages are still not legally recognized in Hawaii as of this writing (2006), the state does permit legal unions for same-sex couples with many of the rights and responsibilites of marriage under the laws of the state.
Best Bridal, which operates the Ocean Crystal Chapel at Hilton Hawaiian Village, welcomes all couples, regardless of gender, race or color. Chapel officiants perform a commitment ceremony for gay couples.
