Affinia Dumont used to be known as one of Manhattan East Suite Hotels -- a moniker both clear and precise. Since having $15-million in renovations and being re-branded, this hotel now has a name that at once recalls nothing (affinia) and the always-perplexed dowager of Marx Bros. films (Margaret Dumont).No matter. If you're planning a visit to NYC and intend to see as much of it as you can on your stay, Affinia Dumont puts you in an ideal location: Travel west on 34th Street to Macy's...east and slightly uptown, you're at the United Nations. Nearby Lexington and Second Avenue buses can carry you downtown to Chinatown, the East Village, SoHo, and Ground Zero. A few blocks over, the uptown Madison Avenue bus leads to the world's most incredible stores and boutiques.
