Guide Review - Affinia Dumont Hotel - NYC Hotel Affinia Dumont

Affinia Dumont used to be known as one of Manhattan East Suite Hotels -- a moniker both clear and precise. Since having $15-million in renovations and being re-branded, this hotel now has a name that at once recalls nothing (affinia) and the always-perplexed dowager of Marx Bros. films (Margaret Dumont).

No matter. If you're planning a visit to NYC and intend to see as much of it as you can on your stay, Affinia Dumont puts you in an ideal location: Travel west on 34th Street to Macy's...east and slightly uptown, you're at the United Nations. Nearby Lexington and Second Avenue buses can carry you downtown to Chinatown, the East Village, SoHo, and Ground Zero. A few blocks over, the uptown Madison Avenue bus leads to the world's most incredible stores and boutiques. Pick up a copy of New York Magazine to find out where else to go and what's worth seeing when you're in NYC.

Yet Affinia Dumont may seduce you into spending more time in your room than you intend. The "Romance Your Rate" program at the hotel provides a menu of sensual, for-a-fee add-ons to enhance a stay: Champagne & chocolates... long-stemmed roses... aromatherapy massage for two... breakfast in bed... drinks and dessert at the romantic Top of the Tower across town... and other sweeteners.

Thoughtful amenities -- herbal ice tea at check-in, popcorn for your microwave, quality Aveda sundries -- also underscore that Affinia Dumont works hard to anticipate guests' needs.

We think you'll like it here.
