Hyatt Hotels.
Amsterdam is one of the most romantic cities in the world; the canals and bridges, the flowers and architecture provide the setting for memorable adventures for two. Many of the best hotels in the city are classically elegant and a bit... formal. Andaz, the hip boutique hotel brand from Hyatt, offers modern couples an alternative.

Opened in October 2012, Andaz Amsterdam is set on the Prinsengracht, which is the site of the city's former Public Library and part of the ring of canals that was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010. It is surrounded by the Jordaan district's art galleries, boutiques and interesting shops, and trendy restaurants.

Like all Andaz hotels, check-in is effected by staff who occupy the lobby, iPad in hand. Your reservation is noted there, and once you make yourself known, the Andaz Host inputs your info and offers a complimentary glass of wine and provides a key to your room.

Contemporary Amsterdam style is embedded in the property’s DNA thanks to Dutch designer Marcel Wanders. The property reflects a modern view of Netherlands history and local culture, from the whimsical wallpaper in the 122 spacious guestrooms (five of which are suites) to the books on the shelves. Guests are provided free Internet access, local phone calls, nonalcoholic beverages and chocolate and other local snacks in the minibar.

Distinctive room elements include an oversized book-shaped work desk, full-length mirror, and a walk-in closet. The specially designed, comfortable reading chair and supply of books honors the building's original purpose.

The hotel's passion for modern art is also expressed via a 40-piece video art collection from emerging and established local and international video artists. Selections from the video art collection are showcased in different areas of the hotel — in the public areas of the ground floor, in the hallways throughout the various floors, or through a special video channel available on the televisions in the guestrooms. The largest display screen for video footage is located in the Lounge and is comprised of nine 60-inch televisions.

The menu at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht’s specialty restaurant Bluespoon focuses on seasonal Western European seaboard cuisine. Ingredients are sourced from an area that covers the Netherlands’ north through to the northern coastal beaches of France. The hotel also includes a 24-hour gym and urban spa. There's also a Studio space that can be used for private gatherings.
