Romantic Mont Tremblant Activities Couples will Savor

By

A picturesque ski resort in Quebec’s Laurentian mountains located about an hour and a half from Montreal, Mont Tremblant has an abundance of activities for couples. Whether you want to schuss down the slopes, browse village boutiques, or sip hot cocoa in front of a fire pit, it’s virtually impossible to feel stressed in this serene setting. Grab your woolen gloves (even better with hand-warmers inside) and get ready for activities that command some serious downtime. The Mont Tremblant season typically runs from the end of November through the mid-April.

There are 14 lifts including gondolas, magic carpets (conveyers to stand on), and high-speed quads. If you pre-book rental equipment, you can leave skis and poles during the day. They will be stored overnight at no charge. During high season, free hour-long tours are offered twice daily and couples can gain insider tips and learn about the history of the region.

Glide with your partner along one of Mont Tremblant's carefully marked trails through forests and meadows and across frozen lakes either alone or with a tour guide. Break often to rest, take in the scenery, and feed the little chickadees sunflower seeds out of the palm of your hand. You may have to wait a few minutes before one swoops down, but it’s worth it. Special hour-and-a-half night torch activities are offered three times a season. You can also choose to take shelter for the evening in a cozy cabin equipped with a wood-burning stove.

3. Mont Tremblant Activity: Snowshoeing

With a guide leading the way, you and your partner can take turns during this activity, driving the two-person sled. Take a break halfway in a heated log cabin, where hot cocoa and maple cookies await. Upon returning, reward these beautiful dogs with kisses and treats before escorting them back to the kennel. You’ll both receive diplomas that certify you as an official dog-sled experts; they make for unique souvenirs.

On a group sleigh ride, an entertaining guide spins Canadian folk tales and puts on a one-man show involving singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. Two horses will lead your sleigh through Mont Tremblant's Le Géant Golf Course and into the woods. You won’t even notice the brisk wind on your face during this activity because you may be laughing so hard. Sneak your sweetheart’s hand under the warm blanket after drinking a steaming cup of cocoa. This magical activity is likely to leave you in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Evening tubing is available daily in winter from 6 to 9pm and is free if you are staying at one of the thirteen hotels in the pedestrian village. There is music playing in the background and a fireplace to warm up against afterwards.

Centrally located at the foot of the south side of Mont Tremblant, this family-owned restaurant and bar is a feel-good place to unwind. Plop down your ski equipment, peel off some layers, and sit by a window facing the mountain to watch both beginners (kids as young as age three) and expert skiers in action. Le Shack’s name comes from the sugar shacks that are used to make maple syrup every spring (Quebec is responsible for about three-quarters of the world’s output). Pay tribute to its origin and order chicken with maple sauce.

9. Mont Tremblant Activity: Cocktails at the Fairmont Hotel

Find an intimate corner to curl up in or sit by one of the roaring fireplaces at the Fairmont Tremblant resort as you sip an exotic cocktail such as a vanilla-lychee Love Connection (vanilla vodka, lychee syrup, fresh grapefruit juice, and angostura bitters). Invite Gracie, the Fairmont’s Golden Labrador, to join in your moment. If you visit on a Saturday night, a piano player softly serenades.

If you have room left, get an order of poutine, which is Montreal’s famous dish made up of French Fries and cheddar curds covered in thick gravy.
