For more than a century the Laurentians have welcomed visitors. Lodging choices range from luxury hotels to condos and B&Bs.

If it's your first visit and you're avid skiers, the closer you are to the pedestrian village, the happier you are likely to be.

These are properties I recommend for couples in search of a great getaway:

Fairmont Tremblant
AAA Four-Diamond mountain château. Stunning facility has a spa, indoor pool, concierge service, and a boutique arcade that connects to the pedestrian village. A chair lift at the doorstep takes skiers to the top of the mountain.

Le Westin Resort & Spa, Tremblant
Accommodations at the Westin Tremblant are set up for longer-term stays and feature a microwave oven and mini refrigeratos.

Hôtel Club Tremblant
Affordable all-inclusive resort with 100 lakeside condos and restaurant with exceptional lake view. Packages include lodging, buffet breakfast, and gourmet dinner. Each unit also features its own kitchen. Property contains Spa-sur-le-Lac with eleven treatment rooms. Full and half-day spa packages are available. Beginning skiers will find the resort's ski school, with its small class size, offers attentive instruction.

Club Intrawest
Romantic, upscale membership property that features baths with Jacuzzis for two.

Le Grand Lodge
All-suite accommodations.
