Developer George Merrick dubbed Coral Gables, the elegant suburb he created, "The City Beautiful." Today the Mediterranean Revival Style architecture, imposing banyan tree lined streets, grand boulevards, golf courses, and stately homes remain.

The area is best experienced on a walk to the Miracle Mile in downtown Coral Gables. That wide stretch of street is abundant with designer shops, art galleries, and live theater.

Or head to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, an 83-acre preserve filled with exotic plants, flowering vines, and trails meandering through lakes.
