"I've never seen so many Aston Martins and Bentleys outside of an exotic car dealership," commented my husband as we pulled up to Acqualina.

Acqualina is as luxurious as its guests' transportation choices.

Planned to resemble a vertical Mediterranean villa, the distinctive 51-story, ochre-and-terracotta Acqualina stands beside the Atlantic Ocean in Sunny Isles, the beachfront community between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Exterior architectural elements — including graceful iron gates, sculpted archways, mosaic floors, and fountains with statues — help to create a romantic ambiance at Acqualina.

The entire Acqualina building contains a 97-room hotel plus 188 condos that start at more than $1 million and go up to $10-million-dollar, six-bedroom penthouses with private swimming pools. Owners' residences have separate elevators and swimming pools.

For guests Acqualina features three swimming pools, a 20,000 square-foot spa, Il Mulino New York restaurant, and exceptionally comfortable guest rooms and suites, many with private terraces that provide glorious views of the beach, ocean, and Intracoastal Waterway.
