Rooms at Hotel Basico are each named after a woman, such as Carmen or Patricia, which adds to the playful feel of the hotel. Each is white, bright and airy.

An extremely comfortable, white king-size bed is the focal point of the room. Beds are raised and have drawers, so suitcases and clothing can be stored underneath. Even the minibar resides handily under the bed, so couples will happily find they have no reason to get out of it. There's even a Polaroid camera within easy reach, should the artistic mood strike.

Guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows. The ones that face the street give great views of the ocean and a perch for people-watching. Patricia, which sits on the corner and has north and east views, is the showiest room in the hotel. Of course, this means people can see in, too, so the more modest should request a room with a patio view.

The shower has a large rain showerhead and is in an oversized square tub sectioned off by a white curtain. Only the toilet is in its own room.

There is a small flat screen TV with DVD player and the entire hotel is wired for wi-fi.
