Opened in 2008, Grand Velas All Suites & Spa Resort is a deluxe all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya beach region south of Cancun.
Grand Velas comprises three sections of varying exclusivity and price. The child-free Grand Class wing’s 89 suites--the most private and romantic accommodations--are the sensible choice for Riviera Maya honeymoons.
The entire resort is visually stunning and exactingly maintained. Its modern tropical design is characterized by open-air passageways lined with thriving jungle foliage. Plush suites are done in a snowy palette, and airy restaurants glitter with art-glass chandeliers. This resort is one swell joint.
Grand Velas’ wide beach features quiet spots and social areas, powdery “white sugar” sand, a protected lagoon for serene swimming, shaded palapas and daybeds for lazing, and roving waiter service.
All-inclusive dining offers a panoply of bars and restaurants with various cuisines. Food, service, and decor are outstanding.
Grand Velas’ visually enchanting spa is not part of the all-inclusive deal. But it tempts with spacious treatment rooms, hydrotherapy pools and jets, and an adjacent beauty salon.
Each resort section contains a terrific gym and offers fitness classes free of charge. All-inclusive activities include karaoke, piano, cigar, and martini bars; kayaks, windsurfers and boogie boards; Spanish classes, bingo, and the like; and whatever mischief transpires behind a “do not disturb” sign.
