What Could Improve a Stay at Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

Tempting as the beachfront scene is, adventurous couples leave the confines of the complex.

Guests at Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso, like guests at all all-inclusives, risk not experiencing a true sense of place. As grand, opulent and rich as the resort is, it’s lacking a distinctive Mexican flair. It could be anywhere in the region. So if you don’t venture off-site, you are missing an authentic experience.

A quick trip in to the town of Playa del Carmen is one antidote. It’s a fun stop for souvenirs and a great way to taste the local cuisine and culture.

Yaxche Mayan Restaurant in Playa del Carmen is a favorite with locals. You can sip on Mayan liquors inflamed at the table by your server while you soak up local color. Shuttles from the hotel go into Playa del Carmen daily, and taxis are available for about $10 USD each way.
