Deluxe room with an ocean view.

The Bottom Line

Couples who seek privacy and pampering at a sun-slathered retreat will enjoy the elite St. Regis Punta Mita, where a lifted finger summons a butler or a fresh drink. Tucked in a hot, lazy nook of Riviera Nayarit, the romantic St. Regis Punta Mita lies in a gated 1500-acre resort/residential community 50-minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. With several infinity pools and a clutch of dining options, a duo need not stray far for fun. Still, for such a conscientious property, surprising details fall through the cracks.

Guide Review - St. Regis Punta Mita

St. Regis Punta Mita is romantic, quiet, elegant and indulgent, ideal for a hot honeymoon or languorous weekend away. Service is impeccable: friendly fleets of butlers and servers cater to all needs and whims (we even spied an attendant carrying a whopping pillar candle to beachside Scrabble players at dusk). Get used to these guys; you need them for the littlest things, even your morning coffee.

For destination wedding seekers, specialists help coordinate menus and style the event. Remède Spa offers bridal packages/wedding day services and a spa suite for couples but no private, shared relaxation space after a treatment. Pity, because the single-sex relaxation areas are sexy and sumptuous.

The resort's three main dining options and expansive menus sate a wide variety of palates and lazy lovers may take advantage of 24-hour room service, delivered by butlers.

Which brings us to accommodations. Bathrooms are the highlight, with outdoor showers and standalone tubs flanked by candles. Unfortunately, our deluxe suite came with a cracked glass table (that wasn’t removed the next morning despite our request), a previous guest’s empty snack wrappers in the mini-bar, and balky wireless internet. These were disappointing oversights for a brand that prides itself on being meticulous.

Absolutely Wonderful!, Member blacknorange

As a first time guest at the St. Regis Punta Mita, I must say that I was blown away. I only stayed for a few nights (for a wedding) but never have I been pampered and been able to relax as much in my life. The quality of the food was very high and I surprised myself at how much I enjoyed the resort's Bloody Mary drink. Our butler was also wonderful. It literally seemed as if our wish was his command and everything, to very smallest detail, was taken care of. The service was always excellent and not once did I pass by an employee who didn´t smile at me and say hi. The wedding itself was stunning. I definitely would LOVE a wedding just like it. The sky was a beautiful mixture of red, blue and pink and provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The ceremony itself had clearly been thought out very well and everything ran perfectly. Although the above review mentions the ""rocky beachfront"", I would like to clarify that the beach itself is marvellous, and definitely does not require any special type of footwear (unless you plan on exploring the Marietas islands). As far as the other cons mentioned, it is hot (but I think that one should probably expect that of a Mexican summer) and I did not experience any of ""Lackadaisical housekeeping"". On a logistical note, if you are planning on staying at this resort, I do suggest signing up for the SPG program - its free and you gain points every time you spend a $ which you can then use for free nights etc. Overall, my experience at the resort was ""absolutely wonderful"" and I would recommend it in a second to anyone.
