Nearest neighbor to The Inn at Perry Cabin, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (admission fee) sprawls across 18 waterfront acres.
It includes a working boat yard, the authentic Hooper Strait Lighthouse circa 1879, and exhibits that trace the history of the bay and its boat building, fishing, and yachting traditions as well as the waterfowl the area attracts.
There is also an extensive gift shop that deals in maritime books and collectibles.
The small Victorian town of St. Michaels has several antiques and gift stores, a few clothing shops, and waterfront eateries that specialize in oysters, clams, crabs, and other bounty fished from Chesapeake Bay.
Miles beyond, the larger town of Easton has even more shops and restaurants and is home to the Academy of the Arts.
Annapolis is about an hours drive away.
