Campobello island is a Canadian territory that connects by bridge to the easternmost tip of the U.S. at Lubec, Maine. Roosevelt Campobello International Park is jointly administered by a U.S.-Canadian Commission established in 1964, and it is funded equally by the two countries.

More than 100,000 visitors visit this attraction annually. The Roosevelt Cottage and Visitor Center are open from the Saturday after Memorial Day until the Saturday after Columbus Day. Admission is free.

The 2,800-acre park contains the wood-framed FDR cottage, four other cottages, and 8.4 miles of scenic drives that branch into short walking trails. The Park's extensive gardens, bogs, observations points, and ocean views are open to visitors.

At Friar's Head, reachable by foot from the parking lot, the Park Commission maintains a picnic area with island and water views. No food or drink is sold on site.
