Allegria Hotel & Spa in a Nutshell:

Allegria Hotel & Spa is located on Long Beach, New York, one of the lesser-known barrier islands off Long Island’s south shore. Situated directly on Long Beach’s two-mile boardwalk, it would be hard to imagine the Allegria Hotel standing any closer to the ocean. Its sleek modern façade contrasts with the older brick buildings flanking it, but its beach colors (light blue, gray and white) keep it unobtrusive. Many of the 143 guest rooms face the Atlantic Ocean, and along with it the active boardwalk.

Dining at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

Allegria Hotel will feature an American continental restaurant and lounge called Atlantica. They’ve brought in a Hamptons chef with significant New York City restaurant experience who promises to offer a unique and chic dining experience, with an eye toward organic and locally grown foods.

Honeymoons / Romance Packages at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

According to the Allegria Hotel Web site, the property will offer a variety of romance packages that include one overnight stay and a menu of extras, such as flower petal turndowns, massages, free cocktails in Atlantica’s lounge, or breakfast in-room. Prices will vary from peak to off-peak seasons.

Activities at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

The hotel can offer a variety of beach-relevant activities including fishing adventures and surf lessons. Experienced surfers will be in good company on Long Beach, and can stock up on supplies at Long Beach’s many surf shops. If you’d like to rent a bicycle or bring your roller blades, the wheels-only lane in the center of the boardwalk provides a clear path. Allegria Hotel’s rooftop pool has a dramatic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the vessels that routinely await entry into Brooklyn’s ship terminal.

Nearby Allegria Hotel & Spa:

Long Beach is a small, unpretentious place with approximately 40,000 permanent year-round residents. Not trendy like the Hamptons or festive like Fire Island’s summer-only communities, Long Beach’s proximity to both sea and city make Allegria Hotel & Spa a quick and easy destination for urbanites. Within minutes of the hotel (the island is only three square miles, so nothing is far away) are establishments of dining and imbibing for rowdy crowds, as well as options for more refined experiences. The beach, though, is the real draw, with well-maintained dunes and jetties and some three miles of soft white sand.

Spa at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

The spa at Allegria Hotel is scheduled to open in the fall of 2009. In addition to its array of facials, massages and other treatments, the spa will contain a salon that offers styling, color, makeup, and nail care. Joseph Christopher, a name known on Long Island for a European style spa and salon experience, will open its third shop rooftop at Allegria, adjacent to the pool. Eleven private treatment rooms and twenty-five salon chairs are planned, and the salon and spa are equipped to cater to bridal parties and other groups.

Getting to Allegria Hotel & Spa:

Allegria Hotel & Spa can be reached from Manhattan via the Long Island Rail Road in Penn Station to the Long Beach station, a ride that takes under an hour. [Check Train Schedule] The hotel is a short taxi ride or walk from the station.
