The key difference between this resort and others with Las Vegas in their names is that the JW is 20 minutes outside of central Las Vegas. This makes it a poor fit for high-spirited vacationers eager to party on the Strip.
The JW does offer a casino, busy restaurants, bars, and clubs. But nightlife is merely one option at this full-service resort; its not the places raison detre.
The Strips hijinks are a free shuttle bus ride away, but the bus does not operate after around midnight. The coach will not turn into a pumpkin, but it does saddle JW guests who stay on the Strip with a hefty wee-hours taxi or the necessity of toking a valet-parking attendant.
Better reasons to lodge at the JW include the chance for romance in well-appointed rooms amidst the sun-burnished Nevada landscape, with good golfing nearby, delicious dining, a superb spa, and a Strip visit or two as an option.
Some JW guests drive from Arizona or Southern California, and self-parking is complimentary. Car rental is not necessary for visitors who fly in. The resort arranges airport transfers, and its free shuttle bus takes care of Strip visits except late at night.
There are some, but not many, children in evidence at the JW. This is not primarily a family resort, which is nice for lovebirds seeking seclusion and toddler tantrum-free meals. However, wedding guests who bring kids to nuptials here will not feel out of place.
