Jamaica Inns 47 suites capture the look of a Jamaican Great House, as the residences of the 19th century plantation owners were known.
The extensive use of white throughout the interiors creates a light, airy feeling, and all have balconies or verandas with lovely views. Antiques, marble bathrooms, and louvered windows create a luxurious and distinctively Caribbean ambiance.
Rooms have coffeepots, telephones, safes, hair dryers, air-conditioning, and ceiling fans but no TVs, radios, or clocks.
Special options for romantic getaways include the Blue Cottage, a private one-bedroom cottage on the beach. Also popular with honeymoon couples is the elegant 2000-square-foot White Suite, located on a private peninsula. It comprises a large bedroom with a sitting area, a marble bathroom, a large wrap-around veranda, a private deck, a hammock, and a good-sized private swimming pool.
The Cowdray Suite, the favorite of polo star Lord Cowdray, consists of a large bedroom, a separate dressing room, and a large living room-style veranda.
But Jamaica Inn's four cottages, each with a living room, one or two bedrooms, and a huge, luxurious bathroom, make the resort truly spectacular. Furnishings include white upholstered couches dotted with bright throw pillows, four-poster beds, colorful area rugs, and tremendous bathrooms with granite-countered sinks.
Cottages also have private infinity plunge pools, outdoor showers, and large terraces overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea.
