Close Up: Couples Ocho Rios:

The oldest (circa 1948) of the resorts, Couples Ocho Rios was once a Hollywood hangout, and many believe remnants of that glamorous era remain. However, her age is showing and rooms are modest by today's standards although views are timeless.

Return guests praise the service, private beach (which means no hassling by vendors), and restaurants. A free trip to Dunn's River, catamaran cruise, and horseback riding are all included. Couples who want to go clothesfree can head to the resort's au naturel island. At night, reggae and Caribbean steel drum bands and movies on the beach make staying up late fun.

Close Up: Couples Swept Away:

The most popular of the Couples Resorts, Swept Away lays claim to 10 acres in Negril and continues to add rooms and buildings to keep up with demand. All rooms overlook the ocean or tropical gardens. The new, top-of-the-line Great House contains a wedding reception space plus 28 suites, some with a wet bar, Jacuzzi, and plasma TV. Part of the all-inclusive's offerings are a free trip to Margaritaville, Pirate's Cove, and catamaran cruises.

Close Up: Couples San Souci:

Right outside Ocho Rios, Couples San Souci was originally built in 1950 and acquired by Couples Resorts in 2005. According to Trip Advisor reviews, it's not as beloved as its sister resorts. The setting, however, is pretty and the 148 suites face the ocean. The resort contains four eateries: Italian and Jamaican restaurants, an open-all-day bistro, and a beach grill. Nude sunbathing is permitted, and Couples' many free perks, including a free trip to Dunn's River Falls, are available.

Close Up: Couples Negril:

Couples Negril is on an inlet close to Jamaica's famed seven-mile beach; transportation is needed to reach it. However, the resort does offer other free trips to Margaritaville, Pirate's Cove, and a shopping shuttle in addition to a catamaran cruise, scuba diving course, diving expedition, glass bottom boat rides, and windsurfing and other water sports with instruction. Nude sunbathing is permitted.
