Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the most exciting place to visit on the Big Island.
It's possible to drive the 11 miles around the rim of the steaming Kilaauea Caldera. The bubbling East Rift Zone periodically spouts lava up to 1,500 feet in the air. The park and caldera are scored with hiking trails that are open 24 hours.
