Couples who plan to spend a few days exploring New York's Finger Lakes region may want to consider a stay at the family-run Geneva on the Lake.
A monastery built in 1914 and modeled after Villa Lancellotti in Frascati, Italy, Geneva on the Lake became an inn in 1981.
This Italianate villa on Seneca Lake has gathered a number of accolades: Bride's magazine once called it "one of the world's most beautiful inns" and the resort has received the AAA Four Diamonds award for more than 20 years.
It's the kind of place couples go to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or other special occasion. During our visit no children were seen or heard.
