Previous | Next >> Casa de Campo is a huge resort in La Romana that sprawls over 6,916 acres. The property includes private villas and hotel rooms, along with nine restaurants, ten bars, three golf courses, a beach, a complex of three swimming pools, 13 tennis courts, a few shops, a business center, a health club, and facilities for horseback riding, polo, and skeet shooting. The grounds also include Altos de Chavon, a recreation of a 16th century Mediterranean village constructed in 1978. This charming area includes restaurants, shops, a 5,000 seat amphitheater, an art gallery, and an archeology museum. The resorts marina, Plaza Portofino, is another separate area with several restaurants in what feels like a European square. Casa de Campo is so big that upon arrival, guests get their own golf cart so they can move around the property to the restaurants, pool, and beach, along with a map with insets for the various areas. A shuttle bus takes guests from the lobby to the marina, where there are restaurants and shops, and to Altos de Chavon.
