Renaissance Curacao in a Nutshell
Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino
Combining new and old, the the Renaissance Curacao, opened in 2009, is attached to Rif Fort, a 19th century UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Renaissance Curacao offers more by way of external attractions than any other hotel in Willemstad, the capital city. There are 50 shops, 15 restaurants, and a movie theater also attached to the hotel.

At the Renaissance Curacao itself, the big draw is the Eternity Beach area. Though the hotel is not actually near any beaches, guests can lounge on this manmade beach on the second floor of the hotel…yes, second floor. Ocean water is pumped up to the beach area, where an infinity edge gives the illusion of water pouring straight into the ocean. It's quite a feat of engineering.

A straw-covered beach bar completes the experience. Perhaps the best element is that the infinity edge is built on a slant; you get the pleasant experience of swimming in the ocean without any marine life creeping in.

Thanks to this unusual amenity, the Renaissance can offer its unique blend of urban and beach life in Curacao. The sights of the city are within five minutes’ walking distance, while the faux-beach offers the chance to relax in proper Caribbean style. Where else can you get the opportunity to lounge on a beach that’s built on top of a Swatch store?

Note: As one of the A-B-C (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) islands, the Renaissance Curacao lies outside of the region's hurricane belt.
