Allure of the Seas Honeymoon Cruise:

Does size matter on a honeymoon... or a cruise? Opinions vary. Carrying up to 5,400 passengers per voyage, Allure of the Seas is enough to cause two to swoon. But is it too big? With 16 stories and 1,187 feet of ship, Allure of the Seas still offers couples intimate spots. For example, aft on deck 16 is so tranquil and romantic under the stars, it’s pure theater. And with a skating rink, 26 eateries, football-sized park, champagne bar and nightclubs galore, this is the big time.

Cabins on Allure of the Seas:

For those who dream big, Allure of the Seas contains 28 palatial loft suites. The largest — the Royal Loft Suite — has a baby grand piano, indoor and outdoor dining rooms, a library, and 843-square-foot balcony with a LCD TV and Jacuzzi. For the rest of us, Allure of the Seas cabins are comparable to most modern cruise ship staterooms. They include twin beds that convert into a queen-sized one, decent closet space, a shower, a small desk, sofa, a flat-screen television, thermostat controlled air-conditioning, Internet access, direct-dial telephone, and 24 hour room service.

Dining on Allure of the Seas:

Allure of the Seas has a dizzying number of dining options. The main Adagio dining room seats 2,900 passengers. A standout among the specialty eateries is Samba Grille, a Brazilian steakhouse (the bacon wrapped chicken is heaven). Rita's Cantina is the spot for sipping margaritas and shrimp ceviche. For poached lobster and fine dining, there’s 150 Central Park. Vintages serves vino and cheese. Satisfy late night munchies with burgers and shakes at Johnny Rockets. The Solarium Bistro has healthy and creative breakfast and lunch options. And the ship’s buffet features a good variety of salads and international dishes.

Weddings with Allure of the Seas:

For a fee, a romance consultant can take care of all wedding details including finding the ideal spot to exchange vows, which may take place at a romantic locale onboard or ashore in a Caribbean castle. Packages range from simple weddings for two with a ceremony, photo shoot, cake cutting, and sparkling wine toast to more elaborate nuptials for couples and their guests. Receptions can be formal sit-down affairs with dishes like sesame-crusted salmon and filet mignon, or a full lunch buffet can be served, or the couple can opt for simply passed hot and cold hors d'oeuvres.

Honeymoons/Romance on Allure of the Seas:

A whopping 5,400 passengers seems overwhelming – especially for a couple seeking solitude. But with assorted pools, including an adults-only one, there are ample quiet cozy spots. The glass-paneled grownups-only solarium with giant circular sofas for two, which can be draped for privacy, is ideal. Couples can also be pampered in the couples massages room or simply stroll along “Central Park.” That peaceful oasis is teeming with lush pathways, canopied trees, and flower gardens. The ship also offers romance packages that feature chilled Dom Perignon, canapés, and breakfast in bed.

Activities on Allure of the Seas:

With seven different “neighborhoods,” there are so many activities on Allure of the Seas that the tricky part is deciding what to do. Each floor contains a helpful computerized kiosk which lists all the activities, and where and when they’re offered. Sporty couples can test out the rock-climbing walls, catch a wave at the surf-simulating Flowriders, play mini-golf, or even brave the outdoor zip line suspended nine decks or 82 feet above the ship's boardwalk. Pilates, kickboxing, yoga. and spinning and dance classes are constantly offered. (Now’s your chance to learn Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance moves!)

Allure of the Seas Itineraries:

Passengers board the megaship at the new $75 million, 240,000 square foot terminal at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, which is supposed to make check-in as seamless as possible and take 20 minutes. The vessel alternates between Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, visiting the Bahamas;, St. Thomas; St. Maarten; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Cozumel, Mexico. There’s also a stop at Labadee, Haiti, the cruise line's private island that has pristine beaches, coral reefs, lush foliage and fetching mountain slopes. Passengers can kayak, snorkel, parasail, or simply read while gazing at the sea.

Excursions from Allure of the Seas:

It has been said that since the ship offers so many activities, the excursions don’t have to be superstars. (Spa junkies take note: treatments are discounted during port days.) Those seeking to stretch their sea legs can snorkel with stingrays, interact with dolphins, golf, bike, snorkel at a shipwrecked cove, do a walking tour, kayak and snorkel in a mangrove lagoon, scuba dive, or visit historic landmarks.

Fort Lauderdale Homeport Hotels:

Fort Lauderdale is a ten-minute drive from the port. Its long stretch of white beach, gentle surf, canals, and upscale restaurants make it worth adding days to the trip. Fort Lauderdale is a very walkable city. The water taxi stops at the main shopping areas and passes by fetching homes, so no need for a car rental. And the hotels overlooking the water are stylish, upscale and comfortable. The Westin Beach Resort & Spa (check rates) and W Fort Lauderdale (check rates) are beside the ocean, have beautiful spas, alfresco dining, and contemporary rooms with killer views.
