Celebrity Century could not be mistaken for any of these. It is, however, a moderately priced ship where passengers encounter a staff that genuinely and consistently goes out of its way to attend to their comfort and enjoyment and that counts for a great deal when you're far from home.
Couples who want to sail on a newer ship should consider booking a voyage on Celebrity Solstice or Celebrity Equinox.
Adventurous types who desire a more luxurious experience are advised to investigate Celebrity's sister line, Azamara.
Is Celebrity Century Right for You?
Where Celebrity Century truly shines is in providing old-fashioned service. The staff-to-passenger ratio is 2-to-1 and its workers -- representing 57 different nationalities -- share a desire to please passengers and take genuine pleasure in doing their jobs well.
Celebrity Century is not particularly kid-centric, which makes it appealing to couples who eschew a carnival atmosphere. Although a few children were spotted on board, there were not many. During holidays and school-vacations, and on domestic itineraries, their number typically rises. However, if you travel with kids, Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas is likely to be more fun for all ages.
