Celebrity Century has gym and a sizeable Internet café equipped with Lenovo laptops. Wi-fi is available in-room. Passengers can purchase a package of Internet minutes; the bigger the package, the cheaper the per-minute charge. And during a cruise, PC users can take hourlong classes ($20) in Word, Excel, and other useful programs.
As Celebrity Century plies the waters from port to port, its onboard profit centers art auctions and port talks are well attended by passengers looking for a way to pass the time.
Bypassing the paintings offered for sale on the ship, passengers can take a free, self-guided audio tour of genuine works of art that are part of the ships permanent collection. Request it at Guest Services to learn more about works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, and other artists whose creations hang in the ship's public spaces as well as in major museums.
One event that was particularly well-attended and coaxed more than a few shekels out of our own pockets was the sale of Russian tchotckes (matryoshka dolls, lacquer boxes, painted eggs, and much more) after the ship called at St. Petersburg. So popular, it was as crowded as a half-off sale at Macys.
Should a health issue require attention, there is a medical facility and a doctor on board. On many cruises, a priest or other religious figure sails along, too.
