Jill Fergus

Jill Fergus has been a professional travel and lifestyle journalist for more than 10 years. She got her start in publishing as an editor at Travel & Leisure magazine where she edited columns, wrote stories, and appeared on NY1, Time Warner’s news channel discussing travel on behalf of the magazine. Once the decision was made to go freelance, she never looked back and has written hundreds of articles for national magazines, newspapers, and websites. She has also appeared on CNN, MSNBC, WCBS, and WNBC discussing travel trends.

Some of the publications Jill has written for include In Style, O, The Oprah Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, Condé Nast Traveler, New York Daily News, Boston Herald, ForbesTraveler.com, Elle, Bridal Guide, Caribbean Travel & Life, American Way, Martha Stewart Weddings, Executive Travel, Town & Country, and Time Out New York. She has also completed copywriting projects for Bloomingdale’s and Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.

"I’ve always had an interest in travel. Even as a young girl, I always knew I’d be doing something in this field. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit more than 50 countries—Morocco and Peru are two favorites and Vietnam and Bolivia are on my wish list. I’d also like to travel to all 50 states, though I have a long way to go on that front. I feel so fortunate to have been able to see such magical places as Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, and the Pyramids at Giza."

I live in New York City and try to take advantage of all it has to offer. I love going to the Met (especially the rooftop garden), taking the number 4 train to Yankee Stadium to catch a game, and seeking out historical sites around the city—did you know that parts of a major Revolutionary War battle took place in what is now Prospect Park? I am a big fan of spy movies (hello, Jason Bourne), historical fiction novels, TV shows like Rome and The Tudors, and my musical tastes range from The Chieftains to Coldplay.
