With scenery like this, you'll want to get outside and explore. Mountain hikes, horseback riding, fly fishing trips, hot-air balloon rides, Jeep tours, and whitewater rafting adventures on the Arkansas River can all be arranged.
At The Broadmoor, you can rent a car on the property and drive the 19-mile scenic highway to 14,110-foot Pike's Peak and enjoy the view from Summit House. Alternately, hike the 12 miles up the Barr Trail to the top, or hop aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway to arrive at the acme.
The Broadmoor also can arrange a "Pikes Peak or Bust" Downhill Bike Trip that includes use of a 21-speed mountain bike, helmet, and warm weather gear. Continental breakfast, a light lunch, water bottle and van support are provided (as needed).
For some invigorating antiquing, head for Manitou Springs, a small historic village between the Garden of the Gods state park and Pikes Peak, and not far from The Broadmoor.
