It's hard not to fall in love with Quebec City, which I consider to be the most magical setting for romance in North America.

Founded in 1608 by French explorer Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is the capital of Canada's French-speaking province and a place where they understand the meaning of l'amour.

With its cobblestone streets, fortified walls, Gallic cuisine, and scenic views of the St. Lawrence Seaway, beautifully preserved 400-year-old Quebec City has been called the Paris of North America.

Ah, but monsieur and madame, not only is it so much more; it's so much closer and so much more affordable for the U.S. traveler than France.

The following pictures reveal a few of the charms of Quebec City. But you'll want to see for yourself — and make plenty of pictures of your own when you visit this uniquely charming destination.
