Two Bunch Palms is almost as famous for its lushly landscaped Grotto as it is for its mud baths.

Believed to have been built by Al Capone in the 1920s, the Grotto consists of two side-by-side, naturally heated mineral spring pools, one at 104 degrees and the other at 99 degrees.

Although the waters are lithium-rich, they are low in sulfur, so there is no unpleasant smell. The pools are surrounded by stone walls, cascading waterfalls, colorful flowers and desert plants in terra cotta pots, and towering palm trees.

The resort also has a traditional swimming pool, the “cool pool,” which is kept at 78 degrees.

Other facilities include two tennis courts, a newly constructed yoga dome in which classes are held, a man-made pond with turtles and fish that guests can feed, nude sunbathing areas, and a labyrinth.
