Apart from its scenic and uncommonly private Caribbean island setting, the most outstanding aspect of Peter Island Resort is its completely out-of-the-box recreational options.
Of course, the resort’s privacy, sublime beaches, comfy suites and gracious spa make it a splendid roost for billing and cooing. But Peter Island Resort is clearly a paradise for couples who love both land and sea activities. There are ample sporting opportunities to fill many memorable days.
There is pool and ocean swimming, with five scenic beaches to choose from (a few are isolated enough for for Adam and Eve).
Sports (with equipment and lessons) that are complimentary to guests include sailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball.
Mountain bikes may be borrowed free of charge for roaming Peter Island’s 1,300 acres. Hikers and runners are delighted as well by the island’s varied terrain, tropical vegetation, and sensational views.
A small but well-equipped gym furnishes cardio machines, free weights, and a circuit-training system.
Guests who must golf can be transported by helicopter to a course on nearby St. Croix. Day trips may be arranged for exploring and shopping on neighboring islands including busy Tortola.
Scuba dives via the on-site PADI shop cost extra. The BVI’s best-known and rather advanced dive is nearby: the wreck of the Rhone, a British mail ship that went down in an 1867 hurricane with her entire crew aboard.
